What is CBD? The Basics.

CBD, is short for cannabidiol, it is a natural compound found in the hemp plant. CBD interacts with your endocannabinoid system, which is a network of receptors located in your body. The endocannabinoid system’s CBD receptors principally affect pain sensation, memory, and mood states.

CBD is not intoxicating, often CBD is mixed up with THC ~ which can get you intoxicated.  CBD and THC are very different molecules. The 2018 Farm Bill made hemp (less than 0.3% THC) legal in the United States. CBD extracted from hemp is legally permitted in all states except Iowa, Idaho, and South Dakota.

Your Endocannabinoid System

The endocannabinoid system is very much as essential as our respiratory and cardiovascular systems. It is lesser known but is responsible for functions like mood, memory and sleep. It plays a homeostatic role in your health by balancing many of your body’s processes for your overall healthfulness.

Cannabinoids are naturally produced compounds that are key to the balancing of the endocannabinoid system. The Hemp plant also produces what's called phytocannabinoids, which are very similar to the ones our bodies make. Hemp  phytocannabinoids can be processed to extract cannabinoids ~ CBD. Hemp CBD works as a supplement to help bring your biological systems into a natural balance.
